Movim 0.35.5, more fixes and improvements!

The 0.35 bugfix releases are all about stabilization and small iterations. After a long year of new features and breaking changes, it's a good time to take a step back and let things settle.
So let's take a look at what this release brings!
Three important fixes: message editing, reactions and publication retrieval 😬
Message editing was broken by the recent refactoring and optimization of how chat messages are published. This release fixes it and restores the chat features that were still affected.
Some Publish-Subscribe (PubSub) code was also refactored in the previous release, which broke the retrieval of some new articles in the news feed. This is now fixed, and you will once again be notified in real time about new content from all the Communities and Blogs you subscribed to.
Finally, because of recent changes in how emojis are handled internally, some specific emojis could no longer be published as reactions. This is fixed as well 🫶.
Introducing a new Docker image 📦✨
One of our contributors, Dewiq, has built a brand new, complete Docker image for Movim.
It is currently available in the delonium/movim-container GitHub repository, and we plan to integrate it into the official Movim project in the coming months. If you're looking for an easy way to deploy Movim as a container, don't hesitate to give it a try!
JavaScript code modernization
Some parts of the Movim codebase needed a rewrite to take advantage of the latest browser features.
The Draw widget, which lets you draw funny pictures or annotate your images before sending them, has been refactored, simplified and optimized. The features stay the same, but several canvas and event-related bugs were fixed, and the overall experience is much snappier than before.
Similarly, the avatar, image manipulation and file upload code was simplified and now relies on modern JavaScript to load and process files. Code supporting very old browsers was also removed.
Avatars PubSub access model
Movim now publishes your avatar on the XMPP network with the open access model, which means anyone can retrieve it.
It used to be restricted to your contact list, which prevented other people from seeing your avatar when you joined chatrooms.
That's all!
We would like to thank all the new Movim contributors and donors. The 2026 fundraising campaign really helped the project move faster, and we will publish a detailed blog post about it before the end of the year.
It seems that some goodies are already planned too 👀.
Stay tuned!
That's all, folks 🥰
