      HAPPY NEWS!

      pubsub.toofast.vip / news • 24 January, 2023

All day win buffet, all time win today. There's something to be said for keeping stuff simple. Now HTTP uplodez works on TooFast.vip:443 (the movim instance here) and it also works in native client. All this while it's proxied to port :443 so as not to offend people like myself with a foreign port number preceding the URI.

This was a long time issue that I appeared to have now solved. Huzzah! 🥹

      Server News for New Years

      pubsub.toofast.vip / news • 23 January, 2023 • 1 minute

So I figure some news might be in order as it's now 2 months after the last time I've shared any server updates.

News is as this: stable, steady as she goes, nothing has tripped nor broke the lead off of it's pencil, it appears all is well. I approve of this!

I have been working hard at starting a new Eve Online corporation named Quik Co. (so far I link our killboard an brag of our outstanding level of dangerousness >:] as our website is yet to be made) and I am quite very happy with my efforts in that so far. I get to imagine myself as an actual leader, given my extensive pvp and game knowledge, but also to use some of these skills actively and attempt to keep everyone happy in space in our corp and of our corporation allies / associates. This game is massive, it's also really old (20years this year), and it's a very established space mmorpg that I've in fact sunken an outstanding amount of time of my life to in a short 4 years of vigorous experience. Well worth it to me, as long as I don't allow myself to get burnt out so that I rage quit, again, lol... Anyhow so this has ultimately consumed my time now that I have a gaming laptop though regardless I do do my dutiies to ensure our server services remain stable.

They are stable and no intrusions, and no major security blips.

Alas, I have some good news! I discovered a way to get the HTTP uplodez to work again! It does not work on TooFast.vip:443 movim instance yet afaik but it works in a native XMPP client! Basically I had some option conflicting somewhere somehow (God does love log verbosity but must not love ejabberd x.x for this lacking area, nevermind movim and apache and the fact not one of many log files no matter in verbosity give a hint to this) so I just changed the config so simply and viola! It works again :D Do I dare make a reverse proxy? @_@ no no no nononononno. Not today anyways.

Hopefully this entertains you if nothing else. God speed everyone, even if you don't believe, His timing is perfect!

      6 Weeks [News]

      cmdr_coconut • pubsub.toofast.vip / news • 26 November, 2022 edit • 1 minute

I kind of lost count of how long we've been up serving a Movim pod on TooFast.vip:443 but I would suggest approximately 6 or 7 weeks. It's been a fun journey I won't lie. First it required some particularly hard configurations, then some fuzzers accompanied by unwanted security scans kept me busy for a week of impromptu security research and hardening, then I fought with Prosody a while to figure out why comments were not allowed, after that I've migrated the server from Prosody to Ejabberd so that we could have comments and likes as appropriate for now and now I guess we're just cruising :D I've also started another Movim server, believe it or not: Cakes.lol

I'm not sure really where to go from here. Perhaps it's time for even better CSS ! Suppose I am happy with the host this is served from and the configurations and such. The HTTP upload being busted is a rather annoying thing and perhaps I shall get working on that this morning again. It was working just fine until something I couldn't find broke it. Stuff happens though, especially with an ongoing thing.

I hope all ppl are happy with this setup, I know I am. If you have any suggestions feel absolutely free to hit me or chunk (also me) up with those. It would be appreciated. 🌴

      HTTP Upload is Busted

      cmdr_coconut • pubsub.toofast.vip / news • 21 November, 2022

I literally did nothing different yet it is broken. Somebody broke it maybe, probably. Unless nmap broke it which is the only thing I did, and even so I've redone the configuration for it and looked that over yet it's still broken. I'm getting to the bottom of it soon I hope. The server has some security mechanisms in place that may be interfering with things. Stay tuned for another post or comment here for if and when it's fixed. 💣📤

Second time around since ejabberd migration, from prosody, is going better. I had some awkward pubsub settings yesterday afternoon where a user somehow when posting created their comment node on the not comments.toofast.vip pubsub service, which is dedicated for comments in movim. Not their fault just that there was literally no way to delete that node except delete the entire pubsub data. As far as I had patience to discover anyways.

So long as nothing else goes wrong from here I'm going to leave it alone aha.. This round however has 1 special perk that is no upload.toofast.vip:5443/upload/etc/file.ext and http uploads are reverse proxied for 100MB max filesize uploads :D I think I did, well, terribly, lol for having not planned any of this at all. However it worked out.

If this message disappears it means squirrels have taken over engine bays 4 and 9 and the invasion is well underway. I am rather confident in the setup. Cheers to all you fast folks, happy chatting!
